Takoradi City Centre Redevelopment Scheme

A critical look at Sekondi Takoradi reveals a lot of prime lands underutilized and most of these lands are occupied by old structures. The Assembly has redesigned all those areas and serving as facilitator to enable private investors to acquire and redevelop them by putting up modern high-rise buildings for shopping arcades to befit the status of the Metropolis

Multi-Storey Car Park

With the ever increasing vehicular traffic at the Central Business Area and lack of adequate parking spaces, it is the vision of the Assembly to team up with an investor to develop a modern car park behind the supper star hotel to help ease the vehicular traffic congestion at the area.

Permanent Fair Site

To further stimulate the economic activities in the Metropolis and the Region as a whole, the abandoned Sekondi Railway Station is proposed for a permanent trade fair site and warehouses, museum, pavilions and parking lot. The Assembly is looking forward for a potential investor to show interest for this project.

Development of Youth Recreation Centre, Essikadu Estate

An abandoned playing field at Essikado. Sekondi is also earmarked for a Youth Recreation Centre to cater for sports activities such as badminton, tennis courts, and computer room/internet cafe and football field with stands rehabilitated for spectators

Free Zones Scheme

The Ghana free zones scheme is an integrated programme to promote processing and manufacturing of goods through the establishment of export processing zones (EPZs). The scheme seeks to remove the frustrations that investors who have funds to invest encounter in the establishment of their businesses and encourages the development of commercial and service activities at seaport and airport areas.

Some of the activities available for consideration by prospective investors in the Metropolis are textile manufacturing, leather wears, manufacturing of rubber products, car assembling, glass manufacturing and gas production, among others.

Essei Lagoon Leisure Complex

The embankment of Essei Lagoon at Bakano in Sekondi had been proposed for leisure complex. The location of the Essei Lagoon in the heart of Sekondi makes it strategic and accessible and could be a major tourist attraction and a holiday centre in the Metropolis. The lagoon makes it attractive and could be complemented with canoeing.

Only a fraction of the potential beaches, water bodies, and water front facilities at the seaport had been developed. Prospective investors can help to develop them.

Modernisation of Sekondi Market & Takoradi Market Expansion

Currently composed of only ground floor stores, the Sekondi Central Market is available for expansion project including construction of upper stores.

This is part of the redevelopment of the inner segment of the Takoradi Market, including the replacement of shanty wooden stalls with concrete structures
