‘Creativity with a meaning’ ‘Wake Up call to companies’ ‘Grand Salutes to Companies’ ‘Outstanding Organisation’
These expressions are will fit for last weekend’s 2nd Edition of Western Regions’ CSR Event organized by the Sekondi- Takoradi Regional Chamber of Commerce & Industry which was captioned: “Creativity in CSR to Accelerate Economic Development.”
The event was attended by many dignitaries including representatives of Development Partners like UNDP, USAID, GIZ, COTVET, and CDC.
Award was presented to All Needs Ghana Limited, Goldfields Ghana Limited, Tullow Ghana Limited, Jubilee Partners, MTN, Kosmos Energy, Technip, Macro Shipping as well as Baker and Hughes.
The event took place under the oversight of Awulae Attibrukusu III (President of WR House of Chiefs).
In his Keynote Address, the Omanhene of Essikado, Nana Kobina Nketsia V was full of praise for the Chambers’ Creative Role it is playing for the benefit of the Communities. To him any company that does not give back to the society what it takes is only ‘trained’ and not ‘educated’. He said, businesses that do not use part of their profits to raise the standard of living of the people in areas they operate are failing the nation.
Amidst a colourful cultural display, the Chairman of Sekondi Takoradi Regional Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mr. Ato Van-Ess mounted the podium to deliver a talk on the award and announced the award Winners. He was grateful to the companies for going beyond their institutionally mandated requirements to undertake projects to benefit the communities in the region.
The President of the Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr Seth Adjei Baah, urged companies to contribute towards the growth of the country through CSR. He announced the Chamber, in recognition of Awardees’ CSR contributions to improve the quality of life of the people in the communities, will give free Chamber Membership subscriptions to them in the coming year.
